Our services follow a set order of worship, or liturgy. It is the same shape most weeks, so you will quickly find your bearings — and nobody will mind if you simply sit and watch the first time.

The morning and afternoon services differ in a couple of places; where they do, both are shown below. You do not need to bring anything with you — Bibles and the Book of Praise are available at the door.

  1. Welcome & Announcements

    The pastor informs the congregation of any announcements.

  2. Votum Standing

    On behalf of the congregation, the pastor confesses the source of our help as coming from God alone.

  3. Salutation Standing

    God greets the congregation through the pastor.

    1 Corinthians 1:3

  4. Singing Standing

    The congregation responds in song.

    Book of Praise

  5. The Law or Profession of Faith

    Morning service

    The Ten Commandments are read out by the pastor.

    Exodus 20

    Afternoon service

    A summary of our faith, the Apostles’ Creed, is read out by the pastor or sung by the congregation.

  6. Singing Morning service

    The congregation responds in song.

  7. Prayer

    Prayer for forgiveness of sins, renewal, and the preaching of God’s Word.

  8. Bible Reading

    Reading of one or more Bible passages related to the sermon.

  9. Singing

    The congregation responds in song.

    Book of Praise

  10. Bible Text or Doctrinal Text

    Morning service

    A few verses from the Bible which form the focus of the sermon.

    Afternoon service

    A Lord’s Day from the Heidelberg Catechism that summarises one or more scriptural teachings, forming the focus of the sermon.

  11. Sermon

    The preaching of the good news of salvation through Christ.

  12. Singing

    The congregation responds in song.

    Book of Praise

  13. Prayer

    Prayer of thanksgiving and intercession.

  14. Collection

    Giving of financial contributions for the work of the church. As a visitor, you are not expected to give.

  15. Singing Standing

    The congregation responds in song.

  16. Benediction Standing

    A farewell blessing from God to His congregation.
